Why Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal?
Shah Jahan built Taj Mahal for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan whose real name was Shahab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram was the fifth Mughal Emperor who ruled India from 1628 to 1658. During his rule, Mughal architecture had reached to its highest level. This we can see in the shape of Taj Mahal which he built in love for his wife.
Shah Jahan began work on the construction of mausoleum in 1632, which was completed by 1643 but construction work continued for another 10 years on other phases of the project.
