What is CPEC in simple words?
CPEC also known as China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a collection of regional infrastructure development projects that aims at promoting regional connectivity. The project includes the construction of roads, railway tracks, power generation projects and the construction of special economic zones.
During Chinese President Xi Jinping first state visit to Pakistan in April 2015, both the countries signed agreement of the construction of the project on 20 April 2015. Soon after signing the agreement work on the construction of the project began.
