As per Pakistan Studies books the total land area of Pakistan is 87.98 million ha (hectares). Out of this total land area of the country only 4.57 million ha (hectares) is covered by forests. This becomes 5.2 per cent of the total land area of Pakistan. This means that only 5.2 per cent land area of Pakistan is under forest.
The northern areas of the country such as Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province and the area of Gilget Baltistan constitute major part of forests covered area of the country.
